As the TikTok ban looms, over half a million TikTok refugees have flocked to China's RedNote (Xiaohongshu) app. If you're already a happy newcomer, paying your 'cat tax', connecting with your moots, and soaking in all the pictures and videos, here's a guide to help you download videos from Xiaohongshu.
1. Download Xiaohongshu Videos with the Save Option
Similar to TikTok's in-app video saving feature, Xiaohongshu provides a download option within the sharing menu. However, it's up to the original poster to decide whether to enable this feature, allowing other users to save their videos or images.
How to save videos from Xiaohongshu (Rednote app):
Step 1. Tap the Share icon at the bottom right of the video.
Step 2. Hit the Save button to download the video to your photo album.
I don't see the download/save option, what's next?
If you don't see the Download icon, or if you hit the icon but nothing happens, it means the original poster of the content has been set to not allow anyone to download the content. If that is the case, you can jump to Method 2 to use that dedicated RedNote video downloader - bulk downloading supported!
No matter you are using iPhone or Android mobile phones, you shall be able to find the downloaded video inside the photo album of your local storage.
Tips: If you are trying to save pictures from Xiaohongshu, the share button is at the top right corner of the post. Then you can hit the Download icon.
The saved video contains watermark at the end of the video, how to remove it?
When you directly save video from RedNote Xiaohongshu, there will be an end-screen containing OP profile image or taglines. If you prefer to remove the end-screen, use the downloader in Method 2, which supports trimming and editing the video.
Change App Interface to the English Language
By default, the app may follow your system language. However, if that's not working, you can change the language to English following the instructions below to better navigate the app.
